Biopsy Procedures
Our interventional pulmonologists are the leading experts in lung cancer diagnostic procedures and techniques. There are a variety of methods to biopsy a lung nodule or lesion. In some circumstances, lymph nodes (small filtering structures located throughout the body) in the chest may also need to be biopsied to get the most accurate diagnosis.
There are usually two main ways to get a biopsy sample, either by a needle through the chest wall (transthoracic percutaneous needle biopsy) or via a small camera passed down your airways to the area of concern (bronchoscopy).
